One of the most joyous things I have done in life was start an annual scholarship for my high school alma mater, Sumner Academy. I ran it in 2006 and 2007. The first year Omon was one of the three recipients and it has been a pleasure to mentor her, see her obtain her bachelor’s degree, attend her medical school White Coat Ceremony and on Saturday I had the privilege and honor to attend her graduation from medical school! Dr. Ighalo, I am so proud of you!!! CONGRATULATIONS and thank you for inspiring us all to shoot for the stars and achieve our dreams!

I love the quote by George Eliot, “It’s never too late to become what you might have been”. 3 years ago my dear friend Susie decided to embark on a major career change that included having to go back to school to obtain another bachelors despite already having a bachelors and a masters! The journey over the last few years has been challenging to say the least BUT she did it and I am so proud of her! It was an honor to see her walk across the stage and achieve her lifelong dream of becoming a registered dietitian! Susie, thank you for inspiring us all to remember DETERMINATION is a driver of success.
